Youth Care Worker ~

We are currently hiring for a Part-time Youth Care Worker to add to our team within the Out of Home Program

This is a voluntary program that welcomes youth from diverse backgrounds. All participants share a common goal: to develop essential independent living skills while continuing their education.

Our goal is to offer the support and guidance they need to reach their objectives and to celebrate their successes alongside them!

Our staff combine their education and diverse experiences in extracurricular activities—such as art, hiking, baking, sports, and more—with a strong ability to listen, empathize, share their time and expertise, and, of course, bring a sense of humour to everything they do.

We’re seeking a creative and passionate Youth Care Worker to join our team! This role may involve daytime, evening, and overnight (sleeping) shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Support youth in the residence by assisting with their daily tasks and activities.

  • Provide informal counselling and make appropriate referrals as needed.

  • Contribute to a client-centered program that offers personalized support.

  • Facilitate the development of essential life skills, including health management, appointment scheduling, cooking, budgeting, and accessing educational and employment resources.

  • Help youth build and maintain a healthy social network, including family and interpersonal relationships.

  • Assist with the planning and participation in residential trips and activities.

Qualifications

  • Social Service Worker (SSW), Child and Youth Worker (CYW), or a diploma/degree in a related field (students in their 2nd year of study are welcome to apply).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and handle crisis situations effectively.

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and current First Aid & CPR certification required.

  • Experience working with youth or at-risk populations is an asset.

  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
